GOAT Tribe

Introduction

GOAT Tribe is a collection of 10,000 NFTs minted on the Cardano blockchain. Launching in October 2021 and selling out in early November, GOAT Tribe has grown to be recognized as the most inclusive and engaged community in the CNFT space with an experienced team working to develop a strong brand and implement the utility offered by the Cardano ecosystem with an ultimate aim of rewarding and providing value to collectors and increasing blockchain adoption.

Since the initial launch, GOAT Tribe has delivered two completely free bonus drops to lucky collectors and a limited free poster drop as well as running numerous charity and community events.

Values

As a project we feel it is vital to have a sense of purpose; a common goal which we can all work towards. A why.

GOAT Tribe promotes quality, positivity and community building whilst supporting causes that preserve and improve our natural environment, determined to avoid the post-apocalyptic world endured by our NFT characters.

Charity

A portion of our mint revenue was donated to animal welfare and humanitarian causes and we have since donated NFTs and conducted charity auctions of unique pieces. Our aim is to host regular events which drive funding to environmental organisations as well as celebrate the creativity on Cardano and create unique art to generate enthusiasm and excitement throughout our community.

The first of these events will take place in April 2022.

We are also in discussions with environmental charities that use blockchain verification regarding partnership.

Community

Community is something we consider a pillar of our ecosystem. Throughout time people have always gathered amongst each other, connected by their values and goals. It’s under our belief that NFTs help further those goals with more freedom and flexibility.

As a visual use-case, we believe NFTs help connect communities to blockchain technology, and In order to aid community building within the Cardano ecosystem, a number of the plans we outline herein are aimed at connecting our community with each other and further securing the future together.

Background

Backstory

Billy Johns (goat farmer’s son and once adept goat milker) develops a crippling fear of goats following a brutal childhood prank masterminded by his brother, involving the mutilated corpse of Billy’s pet goat Michael, and the untimely death of his father.

15 years later Billy discovers his brother is still experimenting with goats and has refined a formula to turn them into ferocious carnivores with a taste for human flesh. Billy battles with his goat phobias and launches a bid to save man and goat kind alike from his depraved brother. Predictably, Billy is killed by his brother and his goat progeny, and eventually the world is overrun by half-goat half-human hybrids with only a finite amount of human flesh to feast on.

Following the demise of the human race, being forced to reflect upon their actions, the goat-people begin to evolve and build a democratic vegetarian goat-society, holding Billy as their God and moral compass.

This is the story of Generation Alpha: 10,000 goats who carved a new civilisation from the remains of mankind...or one version of it at least...

This is the GOAT Tribe.

Project Origin

A lot of good things come from negative circumstances being turned on their head and there were many factors which led to the inception of GOAT Tribe and the coming together of the team. The original drawings and project concept came at a difficult time, when drawing was a need and an outlet, spurned on by the creativity and success of high profile Ethereum projects and creators such as Beeple, BAYC and CryptoPunks alongside the challenge of mixing code and illustration.

The project as you see it today is a true team effort, spurred on by community and camaraderie. We came together over a mutual appreciation for NFT art and we are driven by an incentive to create value for those who put their faith in us and be at the forefront of the Cardano NFT revolution. We want everyone to be as proud of their goats as we are.

Goats in particular were chosen for their resilience and resourcefulness. Goats climb to seemingly impossible heights and don't take shit from anyone.

Team

Dan Concept, Art & Operations

A full-time digital illustrator and AI artist (aka autre coeur) with 18 years' experience in electronic music composition and production and 5 years experience in blockchain. Dan's formal background lies in finance and project delivery in the UK civil engineering sector and he has operated and been at the head of several successful businesses in this field.

He founded the project after realising the potential of a hobby he was working on in early 2021, became fully committed to the space by the end of the year and is now re-training as an AI dev. Everything in the collection was drawn and the algorithm used to generate the images created by him. He continues to oversee the direction of the project, working on collaborations and strategic partnerships, technical documentation and implementation as well as PFP and collaboration artwork.

J Marketing, Sales, Operations

J was introduced to the project early on and has been personally invested in blockchain for over 5 years.

For the last 10 years he has been working for small grassroots companies, to large fortune 500 corporations as a sales consultant, building on a foundation made working with car dealerships in business development and laboratory equipment sales, working directly with manufacturers and their clients.

J’s role with the Tribe sees him reaching out and developing strategic partnerships and overseeing dissemination of information as well as keeping the team on track as scrum master.

Alex Research, Community

Alex's background is in research and psychology for prominent social media platforms. He currently lives and works in South Korea and joined the project in the later stages. He also helps build, grow and maintain the GOAT Tribe's brand as we as monitoring, moderating and engaging with the community. Jack of all trades, he manages and communicates the needs of of the GOAT Tribe.

Visionzzz Lead Developer

Visionzzz is a full time software engineer who fell in love with the Cardano blockchain in January 2021. When looking into CNFTs the GOAT Tribe was the first project he purchased on the day of mint and the awesome community made him find a passion for NFTs.

He also enjoys DJing/producing techno and house music which made him start an event company called Another World. They host events throughout Colorado and hope to integrate CNFTs into the event space while educating people on the Cardano blockchain.

He is currently in the third cohort of the Plutus Pioneer program and is excited to use his previous knowledge of computer science and what he is learning to help the Goat Tribe and the Cardano blockchain develop.

Vanguard

The Vanguard was our advance party; a very short run of 33 bespoke promotional goats distributed with two main aims in mind:

We wanted to recognize those people in the space who showed absolute commitment to Cardano NFTs from the very beginning. These people helped shape the space into the positive, uplifting community we all experience via Twitter and multiple Discord servers. Without them, the Cardano NFT space wouldn't be as nurturing or as renowned for positivity. They embody everything the Tribe aspires to be.
We wanted to share our vision of the Tribe and show the whole Cardano NFT space what we were capable of. As well as embracing the challenge of customizing our goats to fit the personalities of those we admire, it was a great opportunity to see some of our pieces being used as profile pictures and to get the word out ahead of our mint, especially at a time when confidence in the CNFT space was relatively low.

Recently Vanguard applications have been re-opened in order for GOAT Tribe to remain at the fore of Cardano NFTs and to reach new audiences across unexplored mediums and platforms.

Image Generation

Composed from over 190 different assets across 12 separate layers, there are 18,332,600,000,000 (18.3 trillion) possible GOAT Tribe characters (not including background colour variance).

Every asset used in the GOAT Tribe NFTs is illustrated by hand and then randomly assembled by a custom Python algorithm.

Image Quality

In creating the GOAT Tribe we considered the permanence of the blockchain and therefore the potential for our collection to be seen by thousands of people over many years. We wanted to make something we could look back upon for those years to come and be proud of, meaning not only a high degree of quality and uniqueness to each image but a rewarding viewing experience. For us, NFTs aren't an object to be left sitting in a wallet, they're to be viewed, shared and enjoyed by many. We wanted to create something in which people could find new details with repeated views and references to 80s, 90s and 00s culture which may not be immediately apparent or understood.

One thing which the GOAT Tribe community is particularly proud of is the quality of our images. All images were drawn as vectors in Adobe Illustrator. A vector is an image produced without using pixels; they use equations, lines, and curves with fixed points on a grid whereas raster images are built from pixels. This means that a vector image can be increased in size without any pixelisation.

Of course, as our images needed to be in a readable format you will see some pixelisation at incredibly high resolutions, but the resultant quality of the image is far higher than that of a raster-based image.

The Algorithm

Starting with the background colour generation, Python's random function is used to generate three random integers, one each assigned to red, green & blue (RGB) to create a single colour combining the ascribed value of each. Each value is in the range 0 - 255, making 18,821,096 possibilities for this element alone (266^3). However, as the generation of this layer is completely random, no rarity weighting is ascribed to it.

The algorithm then proceeds to compile the layers of images, each grouped into a folder per layer to avoid clashes and group similar items (such as bodywear, headwear, etc.). Each image is an individual .png file in its own right on a completely transparent background, ensuring that preceding layers are visible in the finished piece.

For the original collection, the layers were ordered as follows: breed; face art; neck art; body art; bodywear; eyes; eyewear; headwear; mouth and facial hair; ear piercings; and other piercings.

The selection of items from each layer by the algorithm is completely random. However, via the inclusion of duplicates of certain assets we are able to ensure that some items are more commonly selected than others.

The algorithm then opens an attributes.csv file (created at the point of creation of the first image) and writes the name of the asset being created, assigned incrementally (i.e. 'GOAT Tribe 00001' and so on), and the filename of each item selected, creating a record of each image and simplifying the metadata production process. Having all of this information present for all images in one spreadsheet also allows us to easily hard-code the percentage of each trait into the metadata.

The final stage in the process saves the compiled image as a single .png file with the assigned file name.

Utility, Usage & Rights

Utility

Not only does each NFT grant the holder access to the #1 Community on Cardano, each one represents the owner with a unique identifier, a goat that says a little something about them, that grants access to rewards in the form of airdropped bonus NFTs and physical items, whitelist and early access to other NFT projects and access to further exclusive content in future.

In the two months following the mint of our original collection, there were two free seasonal NFT airdrops to our holders to mark Halloween and Christmas 2021. Early in 2022 we distributed around 70 posters worldwide to randomly selected collectors who minted with us and we have a minimum of two further limited airdrops planned for our holders before the year is out.

Throughout this document, plans are set out for the further utility of GOAT Tribe NFTs, including as an owner access key, for staking and assigning native token distribution quotas.

Owner Rights

As an owner of a GOAT Tribe NFT, you are granted a royalty-free, exclusive and revocable license to reproduce, publish, or otherwise use and authorise others to use the image contained in your NFT. This includes but is not limited to commercial purposes.

Once you no longer own your NFT, you no longer hold the rights as described here.

The GOAT Tribe logo is a registered trademark and may not be used by anyone without permission from the trademark owner.

Comic & Series 0

As well as plans to develop the GOAT Tribe ecosystem, outlined in subsequent sections of this document, we are planning to produce future NFTs both exclusively under the GOAT Tribe name (some of which will be reserved for free airdrops to our holders) and in collaboration with select other projects.

The aim of producing further NFTs is has two functions:

To allow further organic growth of our community, giving more people access to GOAT Tribe and its benefits through NFT ownership, potentially at a lower cost of entry than secondary market purchases of the original collection. In order to broaden access, we intend to implement a purchase mechanism similar to that proposed within our marketplace, which bypasses the necessity to have a reserve of ADA in order to take part.
To expand the background and flesh out the story of the GOAT Tribe in a tokenised fashion, creating more assets across different media forms that the community can interact and engage with.

Current plans to these ends include the launch of a limited series of NFT comics in 2022 and a further 'Series 0' mint of PFP type NFTs planned for late 2022 at the earliest.

Ecosystem

GOAT Tribe Platform

Owners Only

As an owner of a GOAT Tribe NFT under any of our policies you will be able to access a restricted area of the GOAT Tribe website through a holder verification process.

Within this area, users will be able to:

access an exclusive merchandise store carrying stock merchandise items and allowing holders the ability to feature any of their held GOAT Tribe NFTs, all available in multiple currencies including ADA;
apply to mint-on-demand exclusive derivative NFTs of their goats, initially in partnership with Anim8bits and in the future 3D (these will be limited to ensure that multiple derivatives of the same NFT cannot be created);
gain early access to future GOAT Tribe minting events; and
display all of the GOAT Tribe NFTs they hold, including access to an online reader for comics.

Further plans for the holder-only area include access to exclusive interactive content.

GOAT Tribe Marketplace

Overview

As a proponent of decentralised initiatives GOAT Tribe supports project marketplaces as a means for purchasing NFTs on the secondary market. To this end, we have taken the decision to launch our own NFT marketplace.

In order to further align this implementation with our values we aim to lower the barrier for entry to NFTs further by allowing sales without the intermediary process of exchanging fiat to ADA, the buyer of an NFT will only need to have an ADA wallet to store their NFT.

Users will be able to convert fiat to ADA and purchase a GOAT Tribe NFT from our marketplace in one smooth transaction.

Fees

In order to incentivise the use of decentralised marketplaces the GOAT Tribe marketplace implements a reduced fee structure compared with multi-collection marketplaces.

Currently, GOAT Tribe marketplace fees are set at a total of 7.5% for transactions made in ADA and are broken down as follows:

0.5% marketplace provider for updates, implementation, servers, support & security
0.5-1% NFT transaction fee
5.5-6% creator royalty used for team salaries and marketing and development of GOAT Tribe

No other fee is charged in relation to the buying and selling of NFTs on the GOAT Tribe marketplace.

External marketplace royalties are currently set at 7.5% for transactions made in ADA which is entirely reserved to sustain and develop the project. In addition to this it is likely that marketplaces will impose their own fee in order to cover operation costs and transaction fees. GOAT Tribe has no influence over these and you should check with marketplaces to understand what these are.

GOAT Tribe Stakepool

GOAT Tribe Stakepool will be the official GOAT Tribe stake pool. By staking with us you will be directly supporting the project and all of its initiatives as well as gaining access to delegator prize draws and $GRASS distribution via our ISO (further detailed are listed in this paper).

Holders who stake with TRIBE will also have the ability to stake their GOAT Tribe NFTs for an increased bonus stake.

Fees and rewards

Current Fees and rewards are TBD. As we fall closer to our ISO we will release more info and options about our stakepool. In the meantime please see tokenomics for more info about our ISO.

$GRASS

What is $GRASS?

First created on 21st April 2022, GRASS is the native utility token for GOAT Tribe.

The total supply of GRASS is capped at 27,182,818. This number is a reference to Euler's Number, a naturally occurring mathematical constant relating to exponential growth.

Utility

Fee Reduction

Initial utility associated with $GRASS will be tied to the GOAT Tribe marketplace, where users will have the option to use our native token to cover up to 25% of fees. Furthermore, developments are underway to allow transactions to be made on marketplaces, including our own, entirely in $GRASS.

In addition to this, we are investigating the potential for use of $GRASS for the purchase of physical items within our store.

Smoking $GRASS

From the point of implementation of $GRASS as a fee reduction token on the GOAT Tribe marketplace and for every 18 epochs, fees earned from transactions of this nature will be burned, removing them from circulating supply.

Rewarding Interaction

To help onboard users and engage through distribution, $GRASS will also be democratically distributed as an award for engagement, interaction and participation in our ecosystem.

Connect with Community

Further utility of the $GRASS token currently being researched is associated with the GOAT Tribe store and interactive media.

Tokenomics

Overview

Of the total token supply, 60% (16,309,690) will be distributed to the GOAT Tribe community. 10% (2,718,281) will be available as an airdrop to GOAT Tribe NFT holders; a further 30% (8,154,845) will be released to TRIBE stake pool delegates as an Initial Stake Offering (ISO); and 20% (5,436,663) will be held by the treasury in order to reward users for supporting the Tribe. There will be no public sale.

35% of the token supply will be retained by the team, with 15% being locked for our founders and vested over a 3 year period; 10% being locked for the development & operations team; and 10% reserved for marketing and promotion.

The remaining 5% will be used for providing liquidity and listing fees to exchanges.

This distribution model ensures funding for the growth and development of the GOAT Tribe without exposing the token economy to any large token holder.

Vesting Schedule

The team vesting schedule starts immediately after the NFT holder airdrop (or the first public token distribution, whichever is first). Over the span of three years, the percentage of tokens released to the team will decrease, starting with 40% in year 1; 35% in year 2; and the remaining 25% in year 3. Tokens will be distrusted to the team members on a monthly basis, spread evenly throughout the year and will have some performance based criteria.

Distributing in this way promotes consistency in team members by incentivizing them to operate at the highest levels as well as remain with the project and aims to reduce the potential for a large amount of $GRASS to be sold in a single transaction or period.

Dynamics

As a traded asset, the value of $GRASS token will be subject to market influences.

$GRASS shall be a deflationary asset, with overall token supply decreasing over time through burning initiatives we like to refer to as 'Smoking'.

Airdrop

A total of G2,718,281 (10% of the total token supply) will be airdropped to holders of the original GOAT Tribe NFT collection via DripDropz™. Each GOAT Tribe NFT is allocated an equal amount $GRASS of approximately G271.82 per GOAT.

ISPO (Initial Stake Pool Offering)

ISPO stands for “Initial stake pool offering,” and creates a revolutionary fair funding mechanism. More fair than an IPO/ICO, the user does not spend their cryptocurrency, rather pledge their rewards towards the stake pool operating the event.

Stake pools on the Cardano network to help distribute native assets and allow users to delegate their future reward towards a desired goal. In exchange brands may reward the user for their participation

How can I participate?

New delegators can stake to UNI1 as long as the pool is not saturated. Any ADA added after saturation will not earn any $GRASS rewards.

How are rewards calculated?

SPO rewards will be calculated through live stake and the number of GOAT NFTs in your staked wallet. Meaning delegators will need to start delegating from the previous epoch to be eligible for the total rewards available.

Anyone can delegate to the ISPO pool to receive $GRASS, although holding GOAT NFTs will multiply the amount of $GRASS you receive.

Those who only delegate ADA will receive .01 $GRASS per staked ADA Pool rewards will be 100% $GRASS.

A custom 1/1 GOATIA NFT: awarded to the user who stakes the most amount of GOATs & ADA for the longest period of time.

Psy GOAT NFTs: awarded to users who stake at least 1000 ADA for a minimum of 18 epochs per 1 GOAT tribe NFT in their wallet

Baby GOAT NFTs: awarded to users who stake at least 500 ADA for a minimum of 18 epochs.
